For me, playing backgammon was always about the strategy and competition with friends.  I didn’t play every week and I wouldn’t have called myself a competitive backgammon player, but I knew the game well and had a lot of fun playing it.  It wasn’t until I got to college and learned that you could play real money backgammon that I got really into the game.  If there was one thing I got excited about it was casino games and to find out my favorite board game could include the thrill of playing for money made me jump in right away.

I had a friend who played backgammon online; he was so good it helped him pay off his tuition and he liked to brag about that.  So, when he mentioned it to me, I immediately asked him for details.  He showed me his favorite online backgammon site and kind of ran me through a bit of the rules since I had never played for money; I didn’t know what a doubling cube was.  He also showed m e where I could play free online backgammon to get practiced up before I hit the real money tables.

That was years ago and I’m still playing backgammon online today.  I still even play the free online backgammon sites as a way to practice new strategies, but these days I’m making a nice profit at the real money tables.  Playing backgammon online has brought a whole new dimension to my backgammon play and has reignited the fun I had with the game as a young kid.
